The Next Chapter for SubQuery

SubQuery is evolving. Over the past few months, you've watched us quietly build something new. Today we're making it official: the SubQuery decentralized network is consolidating, and asksubquery.xyz is where we're going next.

When we launched SubQuery's decentralized network, our goal was simple: give developers fast, reliable access to on-chain data through an open, permissionless system. That mission produced real results. A network of Node Operators, Delegators, and Consumers doing meaningful work across multiple chains.

But the landscape has changed, and so have we. Today we’re announcing that we will be winding down the SubQuery decentralized network as we focus entirely on our new AI platform, AskSubQuery.

A Reminder on AskSubQuery

AskSubQuery is our innovative AI-powered platform that lets anyone explore blockchain data using plain, natural language. No more writing complex GraphQL queries, deciphering schemas, or navigating technical barriers. AskSubQuery makes blockchain data as easy to access as chatting with an assistant. 

AskSubQuery is powered by our GraphQLAgent MCP (Model Context Protocol) Service - the first platform designed specifically to bring AI-native querying to SubQuery and The Graph Protocol data sources. It turns natural language into blockchain intelligence. Ask blockchain data questions like “What are top 5 tokens by TVL on Uniswap” on your Uniswap indexer and get instant, intelligent answers. 

It works seamlessly across your existing SubQuery projects and The Graph subgraphs with no migration required. SQT holders get free daily credits simply by locking their tokens, making the platform even more accessible and rewarding for our community.

What This Means

What continues:

• The SQT token (ERC-20) remains fully operational
• SQT becomes the native utility token on AskSubQuery, used for query credits, payments, and platform features
• OnFinality continues as a managed service alternative

What is being phased out:

• Decentralized indexing services (RPC, Subgraph, SubQuery)
• Staking rewards
• Operator and Delegator roles

Two Clear Paths for Every SQT Token Holder

Every token holder now has a straightforward choice:

Path A: Stay and Use AskSubQuery

Use your SQT directly on AskSubQuery. The token will power query credits and unlock free daily credits when locked. Our team is focused on delivering an exceptional AI SaaS experience, and SQT is at the center of it.

Path B: Exit with Ease  

Instant unbonding with no fees and no locking period. Withdraw your tokens from the SubQuery Network app at any time during the open withdrawal window.

If you're currently staking or delegating: unbonding is now instant and fee-free. Head to the SubQuery Network App to withdraw at any time.

For our customers and operators

We know this transition affects people who have built real things on top of SubQuery infrastructure. We're committed to making this as smooth as possible. We have already pre-notified most customers, and we will still allow 4 more weeks for people to make changes.

We have built clear pathways for everyone currently using the SubQuery Network:

• OnFinality (Recommended): Managed infrastructure offering 3 months free for all paying customers switching from SubQuery Network.
• Private operator deals: Bilateral arrangements for teams that prefer continued decentralization.
• Self-host: Full open-source tooling and documentation for technical teams who want to run their own infrastructure.

Our customer success team is ready to assist with migrations and has already begun notifying affected users.
