SubQuery Developer Update: October 2023

SubQuery Developer Update: October 2023

SubQuery is a fast & flexible blockchain indexing toolkit that powers hundreds of teams on blockchain networks such as Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polkadot, Cosmos, Avalanche and a number of others. Our goal is to help developers focus on creating their core products rather than spending time and money building their own indexing solutions.

Our latest Developer Update highlights the following:

  • A new in-memory cache for developers
  • The First Indexer to Support Stellar’s Soroban Smart Contract Network
  • SubQuery’s Multi-chain Indexing Gets Managed Service Support!
  • Nodle Launches on Kepler and Decentralises their dApps
  • Public Access to Kepler Network

A new in-memory cache for developers

The in-memory cache is an injected class granting access to a temporary store of data that can be accessed and shared between mapping handlers. This feature is helpful for commonly accessed data in scenarios where data persistence is not necessary, but the data is required to be accessed inside projects across subsequent calls of handlers.

The First Indexer to Support Stellar’s Soroban Smart Contract Network

This October, we were the first indexer to provide support for Stellar’s new Soroban smart contract network. Soroban is the new developer-friendly, Rust-based smart contract platform built on Stellar that will allow smart contracts to access Stellar’s wide variety of on-chain assets and worldwide on and off-ramps.

Developers on Stellar can now benefit from a superior SubQuery indexing experience, including access to the open-source SDK, tools, documentation, and developer support that the SubQuery ecosystem provides. They are also supported in SubQuery’s enterprise level managed service, which provides enterprise level infrastructure hosting and handles millions of requests each day.ovides enterprise level infrastructure hosting and handles millions of requests each day.

We’ve also extended our indexing support for Boba Network, Astar’s zKatana, Agoric, zkSync Era and Klaytn

SubQuery’s Multi-chain Indexing Gets Managed Service Support!

Today we’ve raised the bar for SubQuery’s Managed Service by offering robust support for multi-chain indexing through a new updated user experience. Customers of SubQuery’s Managed Service can now benefit from extended multi-chain indexing support, allowing them to manage each indexer for each chain independently in the UI.

For example, you can use Multi-chain indexing to index data from both sides of a cross-chain bridge. You could capture XCM transaction data from all Polkadot parachains or monitor IBC messages across Cosmos Zones in a single project, with a single database, and a single query endpoint. We even provide example guides for how you can use multi-chain indexing to index Snapshot voting records, multi-sig wallet setup through SAFE, and even Galxe voting NFT rewards. To learn more about multi-chain indexing, read the documentation here.

Nodle Launches on Kepler and Decentralises their dApps

Nodle completed the decentralisation of their production dApps by switching projects to the SubQuery Kepler Network. This strategic move represents the maturity of SubQuery's decentralised network as one of a few production-ready decentralised data networks in the market today.

“Moving to SubQuery’s decentralised network was a pretty straightforward process, we’re already seeing substantial improvements to the indexing backend when running on Kepler.”

- Eliott Teissonniere, CTO and CoFounderat Nodle

Already Nodle is observing massive performance improvements from the decentralised networks, with Kepler taking less than 20% of the time to index and serve data to their applications. Users based in different regions also observe faster response times, thanks to SubQuery’s globally distributed network of indexers.

Public Access to Kepler Network

In recent months, we've embarked on an exciting journey of testing, scaling, and introducing powerful features to elevate SubQuery's Kepler Network and these dedicated efforts have fortified Kepler's capabilities. Check out the latest stats on Kepler here

Kepler is now ready to embark on its next phase. While previously accessible exclusively to invited indexers and specially designated ambassadors serving as Delegators, we're now expanding access to everyone. If you've done KYC during any SubQuery event before, you can now get kSQT on the Kepler Swap.

What Is Web3 Technology? And Why It Needs Decentralised Indexing

Web3 technology refers to the next generation of the internet, one that’s decentralised, user-owned, and powered by blockchain. Unlike the Web2 model dominated by centralised platforms, Web3 shifts control back to users, allowing them to own their data, digital assets, and online identity.

DePIN Crypto Projects to Watch in 2025

Introduction Decentralised Physical Infrastructure Networks, or DePIN, are more than just the latest crypto buzzword. They represent one of the most compelling narratives in Web3: the convergence of blockchain technology with real-world, physical infrastructure.  DePIN systems connect blockchain incentives to tangible utility. They enable individuals and communities to contribute resources like bandwidth, hardware, or electricity to a decentralised network and get rewarded for it.  In this ar
