We’re excited to share the key highlights from Consensus Hong Kong 2025—a landmark event for blockchain innovation in the region.

As the first-ever Consensus in Asia, the event was buzzing with energy, drawing industry leaders, builders, and visionaries. While it marked a significant milestone, we observed a key trend—many of our partners and customers chose to attend ETHDenver instead.

Given that this was Consensus’s debut in Asia, it’s understandable, but it also highlights the opportunity for future growth in the region.

A New Era for Web3 in Asia

The energy on opening day was palpable—over 8,000 attendees from around the world gathered under one roof, with side events buzzing in many corners of Hong Kong.

This year, the shift was clear: fewer hoodies, more suits. Institutional players and TradFi giants are stepping in, with names like Standard Chartered Bank making headlines, including a partnership with Animoca to launch a stable HKD.

The opening panels tackled the biggest questions head-on—regulation, trust, and the future of digital assets. Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, set the tone with a bold keynote, reaffirming the city’s commitment to Web3 innovation.

The Convergence of AI and Web3

If there was one recurring theme throughout the conference, it was the intersection of AI and crypto—a fusion that’s rapidly shifting from theory to practice.

Panels explored how AI is reshaping decentralised ecosystems, with developers actively building tools to bridge usability gaps and drive adoption. Projects like Virtuals are leading the charge, addressing crypto’s UX challenges while enabling AI-powered innovations across various applications.

Venture capitalists also emphasised AI’s potential as a key driver of blockchain growth, envisioning a future where AI agents autonomously execute smart contracts, manage payment flows, and facilitate machine-to-machine transactions.

As these innovations develop, they could drive massive transaction growth, reshape blockchain, and speed up adoption. We’re excited about the SubQuery AI App framework and the potential of what could be built with it.

Hack Seasons Event: A Huge Success

SubQuery’s co-sponsored side event, Hack Seasons, was a resounding success, drawing a packed crowd of builders, innovators, and industry leaders. With three stages hosting insightful talks, the event fostered deep engagement and knowledge sharing across the web3 community. SubQuery had the opportunity to connect directly with a range of developers, sparking meaningful discussions about indexing, data infrastructure, and the future of decentralised applications. The event’s exceptional organisation ensured a seamless experience, making it a standout gathering for collaboration and innovation in the space.

Our booth!

Merch was a hit, we felt nostalgia as we distributed the last of the old branding SubQuery merchandise. With 6 SubQuery team members present at the event, we were able to effectively cover ground, maximising engagement.

How cool is our merch? 😏🔥

Strengthening Relationships and Expanding Our Network

Consensus HK 2025 provided a prime opportunity to reconnect with our existing partners and customers while forging new relationships that could drive future growth. Throughout the event, we engaged in productive meetings with investors, ecosystem partners, and crypto projects actively building in the space.

Investor & Partner Catch-Ups

Brittany met with representatives from several of our investors - Crypto.com Capital, DCG, Impossible Finance, and Taisu Ventures. These discussions reaffirmed their confidence in our work, with all expressing enthusiasm and willingness to support us in any way they can.

Here are some of the key people we had the opportunity to reconnect with:

Brittany Seales (Head of Marketing at SubQuery) and Calvin Chu from Impossible Finance
Brittany Seales (Head of Marketing at SubQuery) and Raphael Ng from Taisu Ventures
Brittany Seales (Head of Marketing at SubQuery), Marta Adamczyk (Head of Business Development at SubQuery) and Lucas Leong from Crypto.com Capital

Customer & Ecosystem Engagement

Marta and James caught up with SubQuery customer, Peter from Autonomys, reinforcing our ongoing collaboration. While a majority of our customers and partners favoured ETHDenver instead of Consensus HK, those who were present provided meaningful insights.

Another great moment was meeting PowerPool Finance who is using the SubQuery indexer SDK and having great success. Their team approached us, expressing interest in deploying to our Network, opening the door for deeper integration.

Our conversations throughout the event led to numerous new leads, with developers, founders, and institutional players showing strong interest in our solutions. Having a physical presence at the event significantly amplified our outreach, allowing us to organically attract projects that could benefit from our infrastructure.

Final Words

A huge thank you to everyone who made this week so memorable. From insightful discussions to unforgettable community moments, Consensus Hong Kong 2025 showed just how vibrant and forward-thinking the Hong Kong Web3 ecosystem truly is. We can’t wait to see what’s in store next year!
